Dear Power Pill Recipient:

Congratulations on being selected to receive a Power Pill.

This coveted honor is granted to very few people. Your fellow citizens chose you to receive the Power Pill due to your novel ideas, the integrity of your campaign, and—most importantly—your dedication to democracy and progress.

The Power Pill bestows upon you the superhuman power of thousands, and in some cases millions, of your fellow citizens. Before you take your Power Pill however, understand the following:

1. The Power Pill is extremely addictive.
2. As a result, you will only be allowed one dose.
3. Depending on the type of Power Pill you have been selected to receive, its effects will last from 2 to 6 years (“Your Term”).
4. Two years after Your Term has ended, you can seek another one-time dose, but it must be for a different type of Power Pill—you can never take the same type of Power Pill twice. 

As you may be aware, the dosage restrictions outlined above have been put in place due to egregious past abuses. Specifically, previous recipients of the Power Pill immediately got addicted, and their first priority became using their sacred power to selfishly secure additional doses for themselves after each term. Spending exorbitant amounts of time on the job in constant campaign mode to achieve this became the norm, as did distorted policy decisions. Recipients also suffered from afflictions such as excessive partisanship and high vulnerability to being controlled by “pushers”—powerful special interests, wealthy donors, and others. Typically, Power Pill pushers would help secure additional doses in exchange for support and favors that only Power Pill recipients could provide—regardless of the damage it did to our society as a whole. The one-dose limit controls the addiction and makes pushers a thing of the past.

As a Power Pill recipient, you are expected to use your one-time opportunity wisely. Each day of Your Term, we recommend that you remind yourself that this is your one chance to use your immense but temporary power to contribute to an ever more prosperous community and country, and an ever more robust democracy. This is your one opportunity to go down in history as a recipient worthy of the Power Pill, one who helped bring about real, positive, and lasting change. 

It is up to you whether you will be remembered as a positive force of progress for your country and the citizens who selected you, or as someone who attempted to use their one-time Power Pill for self-serving purposes.
